Gaelen Foley- One Night of Sin

ImageSynopsis: Lord Alec Knight wasn’t himself ever since the only girl he’d ever consider marrying wed another instead. When he and his friends came across a girl sleeping outside his friend’s house, they mistakenly believed she was early for their debauched party. When she runs off, Alec felt compelled to follow her, not because she was beautiful and had a great left punch but because she stirred something in him.

Miss Becky Ward let the kind gentleman believe her a lady of the night not just for the food and shelter he offered but because if her guardian ever caught her- and she knew he was powerful enough to do so eventually, her innocence would be forfeit anyway. She did not want to involve him but when he followed and rescued her a second time she couldn’t get rid of him. When he proposed marriage out of honor for her sacrifice, she refused him. Instead they forged a plan that would reveal her ward’s heinous crimes and return Rebecca to her home. Alec wouldn’t mind marrying her though, if she’d let him.

Comments: It was a good story. Characters were great the flow was nice. Somehow didn’t like the detailed flashbacks. Not sure why they turned me off but there you have it. Alec hid her while he enacted their plan. Thought they spent way too much time together but Alec was really noble- he didn’t dare touch her until she agreed to marry him. Woman from past tried to break them up and was catalyst to Becky being caught and his friends almost murdered.

Knight Everlasting by Jackie Ivie

11307712Synopsis: Juliana D’Aubenville was minding her own business when a great oaf of a man charged her and tackled her to the ground. She realised later that he’d probably saved her life by keeping her hidden from the brutal massacre he’d escaped but that did not mean he could kidnap her and force her to live in ‘safety’ on his land. It was unfortunate he and his men were as sharp as she as each attempt at escape was met with failure. In truth what was she running to? The only person who had evidence of her true identity had died with the other villagers. However what was she to do in her new home where her captor was engaged to marry someone else and her accent could slip at any moment and the highlanders would all know from where she truly came.

Comment: The Laird was too soft hearted to his evil uncle so it was no surprising he tried to seduce Juliana to spite him. A witch on the scene spiced up the story and the struggle the Laird had between his duty to his people and his heart. He actually proposed Juliana marry his best friend!

Suzanne Enoch – A Matter of Scandal

suzanne enochSynopsis: Miss Emma Grenville was only trying to stave off the increase in rent suggested by her landlord’s arrogant nephew when she agreed to that beast’s wager. It was true he never lost a wager but that was only because he’d never had to tutor marriageable misses in etiquette. All Emma had to do was come up with a smarter business plan to make his uncle’s estate earn more money- not difficult by comparison especially when the Duke’s handsome friend insists on helping her win the bet and bring his friend down a notch in the process.

Lord Dare was a charming man it’s true but only Grey, Duke of Wycliffe made her heart race. And she could only hold herself apart for so long before she gives into his blatant advances. She was the headmistress of a girl’s Academy for goodness sake she must hold herself aloof and be a good example to her students. But she was also a woman and he was an expert charmer. Unfortunately he did not come into the country to visit with his best friend alone and trouble astirs when a woman scorned is involved.

Comments: Hilarity at its best. Marvelous story line and the right use of all characters. He tried every trick to seduce her and in the process lost his heart. Nice! What one of his ‘friends’ did to destroy her reputation was really sad. loved how mom appeared out of the blue to rescue son.
